Some New Friends

I've met over the last week or so...

May I introduce George... first, perched on the back of the bench, then admiring the larger than life size statue of himself.

Today, George brought along a little friend. Being the original sort, I named her Georgiana.

Not quite as cuddly as the pooches.

Since they were relaxing on Mom's very colourful little porch, I'd guess they were ... wait for it ... lounge lizards.

Mom seems to prefer the company of seahorses. And bluebirds.

I rather like Mom's very brightly coloured plants.

Here, we are surrounded by orange groves and cattle... not too terribly far away is the Cosa Nostra cattle ranch; I do believe I shall keep a healthy distance from it. Still, how many towns can boast a HUGE lake like Lake Jackson in the centre?

Hope the rest of your weekend is lovely jubbly.

  1. Love the colour which surrounds your mama. And am a sucker for lizards - of both the couch and the curtain variety.

  2. We have small lizards that live in the walls of our house. They come out when the sun shines, and become sport for our dog who gives them 'the evil eye'.

    1. We seem to have quite an assembly of non-native geckos here.

  3. This is delightful. Thanks for sharing this happy view into creative family influence. As a George, I am proud to have a handsome reptilian relative like the one photoed.

    1. I'm sure the reptilian George can only hope to be half so wise and worldly.

  4. Groan at the supposed joke. I love lizards, especially crumbed and deep fried......sorry. They are cute. Are there alligators nearby though?

    1. We are slightly south of the small Florida town named 'Frostproof'. Alligators love it here and as they are really quite tasty, I'm not quite as disapproving of their residency as I probably should be.

  5. Your mum is lovely :)
I love the cute little lounge lizards, and those gorgeous crotons! I want some, but will have to wait until my jades grow tall enough to shade them from the afternoon heat. I like the red strappy plant too.

    1. River, thank you, I shall pass that along to my Mother. Mom does have a good eye for colour, doesn't she? A family friend gave her a bright red impatiens to go along with her bright orange one. The same friend gave me a pot of rosemary and Genovese basil. =)

  11. Once when we were in Maui, I had to save My Rare One from a MONSTER GECKO that was in our bathroom. It must have been a whole inch long, LOL! So I was the hero because I scooped it up in a little box and put it outside. We don't have geckos or lizards in Canada like that.

  13. When I lived in Savannah, Georgia they had a lot of lizards. I loved them. They'd just pop up in random spots. I don't miss their big roaches though. YUCK!

  14. I thought I was following you, but turns out I clicked follow while signed out of my blogger google account and into my youtube one, which will come up as unknown, as a profile. This is Jody, at catwomanflix however. I'm so screwed up on all my profiles and how I sign in to which, my gosh.
