A Little Mischief

But doesn't Jim look just lovely, sound asleep with his mouth hanging open, lol.

He's had a few rough moments, that's to be expected when a transplant is involved, but nothing anywhere near so frightening as the initial surgery. Mom grabbed this photo just after he fell asleep.

This ugly fellow nearly gave me a heart attack when I got home from work tonight:

This is the toxic cane toad, a giant of a toad which has rapidly become an invasive species in many parts of the globe; this particular one was about the size of a baseball and hurtled past my feet. Fortunately for me, it didn't touch me and quite considerately knocked itself out on the car's under carriage.

One more day until some time off, hallelujah!

  1. Your brother looks damn good for a man who just had a double lung transplant! Onward and upward!

  2. Cane toads? Bleah. We have them, and they are an invasive danger to far too many things.
Yay for Jim's smooth recovery. And enjoy your down time.

  3. Jim looks peaceful. We have the cane toads here in Queensland, which is not my state, but sightings have been seen as they sometimes hitch a ride south in produce trucks.

  4. Jim looks very well groomed and neat, in spite of his surgery. Cane toads? Crush, kill, destroy.

  5. At first glance at the toad photo I also thought "ugly." The more I look at him the more interesting he becomes. Still, he creeps me out. Good to hear (see) your brother is resting peacefully and healing, slowly but surely.

    1. He's done really well, all things considered, and he has a great medical team.

    1. But as his younger sister, I am duty-bound to tease him a bit... if I didn't, he might go into shock.

      Can't have that!

  9. He's looking good! I've never heard of a cane toad. How toxic are they?

    1. Pretty darn toxic, it's too chilly for them in your location though.
